I have been SO busy with Elder Scrolls Online the past month that I have not even updated here. I was waiting for some of our major events to happen in the Shoddycaste guild, but I am just going to write an overview of everything that has been happening.
OK so some of you know that I am the slowest leveler on the planet. Plus my computer hours have been cut lately. So I am still only level 37 out of 50+.
Why so long? some of you might ask. Well… I was getting lost. A LOT. Especially in the mountainous zones. Then I got an addon called ZRMinimap. This addon has helped me so much that I am back to getting one to two levels a day even with cut hours.
I know that still doesn’t seem like a lot of leveling, but it is slower in this game than some others. Plus the controls and exploration have taken me a while to get used to. Also, I am doing “way too many professions” according to some people. Only three, but I spend a lot of time in the cities crafting and emptying bag space. I am also helping empty the guild bank every other day so… A LOT.
I have been making tons of screenshots, and I hope to post some of those soon.
I am playing a templar with a dps build for questing and a complete heals build for PVE and PVP. At around level 20 or 25 I paid to change all my skill points to get rid of my sword and shield build. I am now destruction staff for questing and resto staff with light armor for dungeons.
I have been trying to run every dungeon in-game for both the leveling and the healing experience. I usually go in all-guildie groups although I did use the group finder tool once.
I did get some addons, but I am so far not extremely impressed with any of them. They either just do what is already in game or they don’t do what I want (and in one case I can’t figure out how to use it even). The only one I loved was the Minimap. I have not tried some of the major addons yet though like Tactical Foundry. Anyone have any other recommendations for these?
So what’s going on with the Shoddycaste guild?
We have been having a dedicated night for profession events every week. The first three weeks we had Profession Meet/Swap nights where we would come together and trade mats we didn’t want for ones we needed. We also used these events to promote getting crafting swap buddies to avoid people putting all their crafted whites in the guild bank.
Some people don’t know, but you get 800% more experience based on what I have read for deconstructing other people’s gear not your own. So it is very good to have swap buddies to exchange crafted items with.
Last night, we also had a Profession Market. At this event we still traded, but we also encouraged selling items or mats for those who were willing to pay. Haggling and bargaining is something we all need to learn, right?
Also, a week ago we had a “Find Kyle” event. (Kyle is our GM from the Shoddycast youtube series.) This event had one huge snafu… no one could find Kyle because of phasing issues. We ended up having to redo it a bit at the end, and we did come up with a winner, but it was a little bit of an ARGH moment for me. I am not used to events not going as planned, and I definitely felt out of my element that night.
Find Kyle Starting Point
We also had a role-playing bio/backstory contest. The winner was FatalEclipse out of around ten entries for “Maura Tierdawn Bio”, which was a combination bio and story involving Queen Ayrenn.
This Saturday night we have a social event planned on Teamspeak, which is just for fun to hang out with guildies- Song Lyric Trivia with an Ancient Elf motif as the prize. Also, our PVP leaders have also teamed up with another guild to do a PVP event on Friday of this week. So there is a lot going on.
As a follow-up post to my original blog post- yes, I am still friends with my early access buddies. However, they are vet ranks now, and I am still mid-level.
This was a message left on guild forums about us by An-Xileel one day:
“Chatmay, Angelofdoubt….both the apple of my eye. One cooks, the other makes armor, and with my dash of enchant nothing can stop us. Nothing but fun since day 1. This goes out to my friends- If you have fallen just look up and take my hand, if you are thirsty here have a health potion, if you are hungry ill break some bread,if you need me just give me a shout. <3”
I still swap mats with them though, and An-Xileel is helping me level from time to time. He has also become a werewolf, which is scary stuff. I will possibly be featuring that in an upcoming post as well. Here is another screenshot of An-Xileel the dragonknight:
